News from Suz: SOME KIND OF HERO (TS #19!)

News from Suzanne Brockmann

It's December, which means that it's only seven months until my next Troubleshooters novel, Some Kind of Hero, is available for sale in ebook and hardcover from Ballantine Books, and in audio from Blackstone Audio!

Okay, yeah.  I'm aware that my readers are pretty damn smart, so I know that my going all "only seven months!! Yay!" didn't get past you.  Like seven (7) months isn't more than a half a year away.

Still, I'm doing my best to be positive -- lotta that going around these days!!

Ed and I are getting ready to road trip to California with our stalwart and adorable Schnauzers, Dexter and Little Joe, so we can spend the season with Jason and his new husband Matt (and Matt's kick-ass California family)! As I'm sure you might imagine, I feel an overpowering urge to be in close proximity to Jason right now, so we're hitting the road (Jack!) in about a week.

But I wanted to take a break from the holiday scramble (and packing for a cross-country move) to give you the very, very, VERY first look at my brand spanking new cover art featuring Navy SEAL LT Peter "Grunge" Greene, the hero of Some Kind of Hero, my next Troubleshooters book.

Nice jawline, Pete!  Way to wear those summer whites!

I love this cover kinda madly, because it's both new and fresh -- AND it gives a nod to the original cover art for The Unsung Hero, TS #1, the book that started the series back in 2000.

The blue section of this cover was an odd little half-cover, over a full picture of a SEAL officer in Navy dress whites. The picture included a "lady hand" on the gentleman's chest, along with his rather excellent jawline.  Oddly, I do not have a jpg of that second cover in any of my photo files. And as I'm writing this, I don't have a first edition of The Unsung Hero that I can use to take a picture so you can see it.  (I'm heading up to MA, though, so I'll be able to find a copy while I'm there.  I hope!  Watch for it on my FB page at SuzanneBrockmannBooks.)

Anyway, this new cover seems to be a very nice full circle from that very first Troubleshooters book.  And, (yay! seven months! yay! YAY!!) to further celebrate, here's the book's official blurb:
Suzanne Brockmann’s signature mix of high-octane action and electrifying passion leaves readers breathless—and eager for more of her ultrasexy operatives. Now, the author USA Today hails as “the reigning queen of military suspense” makes an explosive return to her bestselling Troubleshooters series.
Navy men don’t come tougher than Lieutenant Peter Greene. Every day he whips hotshot SEAL wannabes into elite fighters. So why can’t he handle one fifteen-year-old girl? His ex’s death left him a single dad overnight, and very unprepared. Pete can’t relate to an angsty teen, but at least he can keep Maddie safe—until the day she disappears. Though he’s lacking in fatherly intuition, Pete’s instinct for detecting danger is razor sharp. Maddie’s in trouble. Now he needs the Troubleshooters team at his back, along with an unconventional ally.
Romance writer Shayla Whitman never expected to be drawn into a real-world thriller—or meet a hero who makes her pulse pound. Action on the page is one thing. Actually living it is another story. Shay’s not as bold as her heroines, but she’s a mother. She sees the panic in her new neighbor’s usually fearless blue eyes —and knows there’s no greater terror for a parent than a child at risk. It’s an ordeal Shay won’t let Pete face alone. She’s no highly trained operative, but she’s smart, resourceful, and knows what makes teenagers tick.
Still, working alongside Pete has its own perils—like the heat between them rising out of control. Intimate emotions could mean dangerous, even deadly, consequences for their mission. No matter what, they must be on top of their game, and playing for keeps . . . or else Pete’s daughter may be gone for good.

You can see a bit more of Navy SEAL (and friend of Izzy Zanella) LT Pete Greene in my latest TS novella, Ready to Roll, which is the third and final story in a trilogy of shorts and novellas that starts with Free Fall and continues with Home Fire Inferno.

Ready to Roll also contains an excerpt from Some Kind of Hero, so you can meet Shayla, too. She is possibly my all-time favorite heroine, in all of the books I've ever written! (Ever!)

So, okay!

Here's a list of pre-order links, should you need a bit more time before returning to packing and/or wrapping and/or hanging those holiday lights!
