Happy 2015! And thanks for making 2014 super duper awesome!

HAPPY 2015!

Hope everyone had a very merry Xmas and a fun New Year's Eve! Best wishes for a super fabulous 2015! I'm stoked for the new year... 2014 ended on a high note with breaking my Crafternoon record then the TV & radio segments. 2015 has tons of possibility!

Yesterday I wrote a blog post highlighting my top 10+ events, moments & happenings of 2014. Wow! It's been an awesome year filled with challenges, leaps of faith, adventures & crossing off items from my bucket list. Thanks so much for being part of my TBD adventures!

Here's the rundown on my 2014 highlights...

  1. 20 Crafternoons!
I kicked butt on the upcycling workshops and went from 9 Crafternoons in 2013 to 20 in 2014. Kewl!

  2. Shaw TV Segment
I not only crafted with Shaw TV's go! West Coast but also made two new FAB friends - Dunia and Matt. Such a super fun experience!

  3. CBC Radio Interview
Just before Xmas I was asked to be part of a segment on The Early Edition sharing last minute DIY projects for the holidays. This was one of my bucket list items that I'm happy to cross off my list. Being on the CBC plus talking all things crafty. Yay!

  4. LowerLonsdale.ca Contributor
I signed up to be a contributor for LowerLonsdale.ca writing easy DIYs. Fun! Sharing simple upcycling projects with my LoLo community. And my LowerLonsdale.ca peeps are super kewl! Just getting 'er done and promo-ing the local community. Right down my alley!

  5. Neighbourhood Small Grant
This was my second year receiving a Neighbourhood Small Grant through Vancouver Foundation. The NSG grant covered the costs for four upcycling workshops. I also volunteered on the Resident Advisory Committee. It's all about building community and connections in your hood.

  6. Adventuring in NYC
I trekked around NYC for 6 days on my own - it was the BEST TRIP EVER! Seeing kewl stuff, meeting neato peeps and getting inspired. Total awesomeness! I gotta go back.

  7. Another Trek to Havana
And then I was back in Havana to have adventures with my person, Roly. Definitely sealed the deal and well Havana is one amazing city. It has the buzz and beauty of NYC just not the chain stores and conveniences. I love that about Cuba... Plus the people, the architecture & the scenery. Definitely worth a visit!

  8. Another Date with Trade School Vancouver
I had my second workshop in partnership with Trade School Vancouver in November. It was a fantastic evening of crafting - turning 'junk' into swanky jewelry. TSV is such a great concept... Sign up to attend or give a workshop at www.tradeschoolvan.com.

  9. Personal Website Redesign Plus Testimonials
I decided to rejig my tagline (I broke up with web design and traded up to community catalyst - way better fit!) which morphed into a complete redesign of my personal website (www.denisecorcoran.com). This year made it clear to me it's time to transition into who and what I want to be. Not only did my website get an overhaul, I also went ahead and designed some personal bizcards.

As part of the redesign I collected testimonials from Crafternoon partners and participants. Wow! Feeling very grateful to have so many kick butt people in my life! I'm so darn lucky I get to craft with tons of fabulous peeps.

  10. Quest Continuing Education Class
This year I moved on from my contract gig with Quest University Canada but turns out I'm not gone for good. They asked me to be part of their Continuing Education program in 2015. I'll be teaching a course called Crafting with 'Crap' - it's 6 evening classes starting Thursday, February 19th.

In other news...

I set up a TBD TinyLetter newsletter. This has been so much fun... And easy! Thanks again for signing up! Next up I launched a TBD YouTube Channel and added the Shaw TV segment and CBC Radio interview.

So what next?! I have a few ideas purcolating... You can find the 2015 workshops I have set up thus far on my TBD website. I'll be confirming upcycling workshop dates with the North Vancouver City Library and Guildford Library soon enough.

I'm contemplating a series of TBD videos this year featuring upcycling tutorials, features on local businesses and community organizations, maybe segments on crafty happenings. We'll see! 2015 is a blank page just ready for me to make great, crafty things happen!

Also check back for my next DIY with LowerLonsdale.ca. Hopefully I can post two a month. We'll see!

To top it off, I'll be working on adding more partners to my roster of FAB peeps I work with. If you or your organization want to partner up just email me at deniseccorcoran@gmail.com.

Finally big thanks to all the people who have helped move TBD forward either by sharing their ideas, inspiring me, attending a Crafternoon or just by being plain ole awesome. 2014 was truly the best year yet! I'm gonna step it up in 2015... Can't wait!

So that's it for 2014... It was filled with challenges, leaps of faith, milestones, love and possibility! Here's to 2015 being even more crafty and fulfilling! xo
