Designer between worlds.

As a designer you are the bridge between the ugly practicality of the real world, and the emotional inner world of your audience. Engineers address purely objective reality, while artists work within the subjective world. Designers are tasked with bridging these worlds to create cohesive experiences that take both sides into consideration.

But how do you approach that role? How do you balance these conflicting frameworks? Sometimes beautification is in order, other times it's disingenuous to conceal the complexity of something. You represent reality as you want it to be experienced by your audience, while maintaining one foot in the world of objective reality. It's a balancing act. That's why design is so mentally demanding. That's why our work is so important.
