And remember it’s OK to use store-bought crown pumpkins to make your creation, you're only limited by your imagination. A great place to get pumpkins and all your fruit and vege needs is Vege King on Heaphy Terrace, always good to deal with, and have been sponsors of the carnival right from the start.
Top Tip – Make sure to give yourself enough time to make your creation, you don’t want to be up half the night trying to get paint to dry with a heat gun.
What makes the best pumpkin cake, pie or muffin/scone?
If I had to hazard a guess, a good recipe, fresh ingredients and making sure it doesn’t get too dry.
So are you or someone you know a whiz in the kitchen? Do they have the best pumpkin cake, pie or scone / muffin? There is only one way to find out and that is to get it to the carnival.
Registration for the cooking is from 11:00am – 12:00pm starting an hour later than when the general registration opens, just so we can get a whole bunch of the other categories sorted, and so we don’t have the food sitting around too long before the judges do their thing and taste everything.
Talking about judges, we are very fortunate to have Vicki Ravlich from Nourish Magazine, back again helping us out with this very important task, and joining her for the first time is Gus Tissink from BidFresh who is an expert in fresh produce.
We'd love to see you at The Great Pumpkin Carnival, Sunday 2nd April 2017. Make sure to check out our website and Facebook Page for all the latest news and updates.
