A Fierce Practice, MacGyver

August 02, 2017

I think I've said everything I need to say HERE.

I will add two things:

1) My parents are amazing and they let me boss them around and they are incredibly supportive and they do things like run to Menards to buy sump pumps and do the most amazing brainstorming and then after dark go to fetch the plug-in-timer-thing so the sump pump won't run all night. YOU GUYS ROCK.

2) I am happy as a clam. This
- all of this - is what I have been waiting for. The work that involved by body and my brain. Where solutions come from drilling holes in buckets and moving hoses and climbing into mud. Instead of just sitting over paper and drawing, or looking for windows, or typing things. This feels good.

3) had been a really busy stretch of three or so weeks, with the permit stress and a bit more work-work than usual and the back-and-forth with starting to build and showing the condo. My parents showed up at just the right time. I was in need of reinforcements! Just having them around is energizing...but having six hands instead of two is a real treat indeed! (When do I ever stick to just two things?)

What is..
  • I am at the farm still. It's dark and breezy. The dark is terrifying sometimes. There is a small frog trying to jump into the dog's empty water bowl and it's making a meditative clinking sound. The wind is rustling the trash bag in the trash barrel and it sounds like the swish of someone's pants walking through the front door. The lightning bugs don't seem to be afraid. So I won't be either. (Sort of).

From the archives, so they don't get lonely...

Well, if that doesn't seem appropriate to yesterday, then I don't know.
