[belated] February 2021

Dear family, friends, and fellow travelers,

Welp, the weekend this newsletter was due to go out my body was just like fuck it we've been doing pandemic for a year and I'm done and ... stopped digesting things. So the last couple of weeks has been an exhilerating experience with tea and smoothies and sports drinks and miso soup and attempts to convince my body that nourishment is probably a good thing to continue doing as we head into New New March and stretch toward the anniversary of the initial emergency orders here in Massachusetts.
Image: Tweet from March 16, 2020. "Day by day. Practicing social distancing skills in my own booth @cloverfoodlab Longwood as @crowgirl42 wraps up her final day in the office before shutdown. #coronavirus #Covid19 #Boston". I think this is the final day that I ate inside at a restaurant.

I'm taking care of myself (and have good caretakers, including my primary care physician, one wife, and two cats!) and generous sick leave policies and access to health care. But I definitely think this is a really physical reminder that trauma lives in the body, in our bodies. And even if you and your loved ones haven't directly caught COVID-19 or lost a job or otherwise been plunged into household crisis during the past twelve months ... we've all been living through crises during the past twelve months.

So here's a gnome with a hug for you. It's my birthday toward the end of New New March -- my second pandemic era birthday, and my 40th -- and I'll be writing again later in the month with further thoughts. In the meantime, be gentle with yourselves and one another.

In solidarity,
Anna
