Dear friends,
If you're anywhere near the U.S. news, or live in the North American northeast, you'll know that yesterday Boston saw a "bomb cyclone" blizzard that brought wind and snow and frigid temperatures into the region. Even Harvard had a snow day, which (trust us) never happens. Hanna and I were able to get out for a walk in the early morning, before the snow blew in, and then hunker down for the rest of the day to work on reading and fanfic and stitching. We went out for our morning walk again today and I thought I would share a few pictures with y'all.

A line of trees along the path to Parker Hill, Arnold Arboretum, Thursday morning before the snow began in earnest.

Pinecones dusted with snow, Parker Hill, Arnold Arboretum, Thursday morning.

Christopher staying warm in our new chair from IKEA, fast becoming the cats' favorite sleeping spot.

Have ALL THE CAT PICTURES.

And a few photos from this morning's walk under clear skies -- the fierce wind made some amazing snow sculptures!

For those of you in the Great Lakes region, the patterns reminded me of the sand dunes along Lake Michigan's shoreline.

Finally, two additional and awesome things to boost your spirits as we approach the one-year anniversary of the Women's March:
The #TwelvetideDrabbles2017 fanfic writing challenge, which I am running for the third year in a row, has raised over $100 in hurricane relief donations for Puerto Rico and the U. S. Virgin Islands! Hanna and I are donating $1 for each "drabble" (100 word fic) and a second donor came through with another $1/drabble at the last minute. This is the first year we've turned the writing challenge into a fundraiser and with this success I am planning to do the same next year!
And, on January 1st, I launched my Persistent Stitches project, with the goal to raise $1,000.00 in 2018 for organizations doing resistence work; by Thursday we had raised $50.00 with the first two pieces I had up for auction! If you have suggestions for organizations I can create works for -- I'm particularly happy to direct funds to local organizations doing heroes work on a shoestring budget -- I'd love to hear from you. I am trying to put up a new piece each Monday throughout the year.
Stay warm and practice kindness,
Anna
