Greetings from Vermont!
Hanna and I are spending the week in Brattleboro, Vermont wth my parents. It's the first time since 2012 that both of us have been away from Boston
together and somewhere other than our respective childhood homes. Restful time in a place without all of the day-to-day responsibilities of homemaking was overdue and feels good. Thanks to my parents' generosity we have been able to rent a two-bedroom AirBnB within walking distance of Brattleboro's main street, which means access to such luxuries as the
Brattleboro Co-Op,
Mocha Joe's,
Brattleboro Books,
Handknits,
Tulip Cafe, and the
Retreat Farm walking trails. We've also taken a short trip up to Putney for the
Green Mountain Spinnery yarn cooperative.
I've been looking forward to this slowed-down week for a while and am using the time to get some quilting and knitting projects done, letting my sleep cycle self regulate, reading
Deosil and
The Family Plot, poking at some fanfic revisions, and writing a few long-overdue emails to friends. And it's good to spend some chill time with my parents whom I haven't seen in person since about this time last year. Have some pictures from our week thus far. (You can find more at

Other than our vacation, things have mostly been noodling along per usual.
- The cats had their annual wellness checkup with the vet and are doing well.
- I turned in my first writing samples for the Ida B. Wells book project on October 1st and got the green light to move forward, so that felt good.
- Persistent Stitches is nearly at $4k raised for the year; we've generated $52.50 in match fund donations for Let America Vote so far this month.
- I wrote a bit about my experience as a bisexual for #ComingOutDay.
- I read and very much enjoyed R. Cooper's latest romance Tit for Tat (imagine Firefly but queer with a central f/f relationship) and Parker Foye's Ward & Weft (m/m paranormal historical set in Wales in 1912).
I hope all of you are settling into the change of seasons.
Be well, be warm,
Anna
